Alabama woman who faked her own abduction seeks to avoid jail

An Alabama woman who admitted to faking her own abduction after stopping to check on a toddler on the side of a highway is appealing her conviction in an effort to avoid a yearlong prison sentence recommended by prosecutors.  Hoover Municipal Court Judge Thomas Brad Bishop found Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell guilty Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of filing a false report with law enforcement and falsely reporting an incident. IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (CBS2) — Some people in the Treasure Valley have reported seeing a string of bright lights in the sky Friday night. A Middleton man, Ryal Bird, sent CBS 2 a picture of these lights. " I saw between 10-12 white illuminated objects moving from an SW to NE direction in the sky last night. With the concluding speech of general conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles expressed to President Thomas S. Monson the love that he and members of the Church have for him. In a light-hearted manner, Elder Holland noted two problems. First was the fact that he was the only person standing between listeners and the ice cream waiting at the close of conference.
